“Musky, peony-like perfume, ripe cherry and hints of humus make for a lovely, Merlot-dominated aromatic display (although each cépage in this blend is equally represented). Tobacco and green herbs more suggestive of Cabernet Franc mingle with the fruit, flowers and earth on a silken-textured palate, leading to a satisfyingly sustained, low-key, intriguing finish. The Bründlmayers evidently felt it would be inappropriate to release this until four years after harvest,but I found it generously approachable in mid-2016. There being no track record for this particular Bründlmayer blend,I have been conservative in my prognosis for cellaring.“
